Our Choices of Mercy
Written by Pastor Hewitt
I found early in my walk with God that I could not agree with many of the rules of carnality that governs churches. There was a fire burning in my spirit to find a church body that worked together to minister the life of God to all creation. I searched and searched and I could never find such a place.
I did not want to be associated with a particular denomination; because I did not find the type of unity that is described in the New Testament in any of them.
Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another. (Romans 14:19).
In all honesty most churches are not making peace and edifying each other.
The Word of God was not given to be used by religious leaders to oppress God's people. The Word of God is not only the written Word of God, but also the ability of speech that is given to humanity by God. The gift of speech is a productive tool if it is used properly. The power of life and death is found in the tongue. God did not ordain us to bring death. The gifts and calling of God are given to edify the body not to wound God's people. The words of the bible confirm this theory:
Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do. (I Thess. 5:11). For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that, which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (Ephesians 4:12,16,29).
